Outline

Welcome!

In this module, you will learn how to set up the publishing experience between the Optimizely Content Management System (CMS) and the Optimizely Content Marketing Platform (CMP). Also covered is how to create, edit and publish CMS content in the CMP.

This module is for anyone interested in integrating the publishing experience between the CMS and the CMP.

Objectives

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  1. Set up the CMS – CMP publishing integration
  2. Create and update CMS content in a CMP task
  3. Publish and schedule CMS content on task completion

Why use both products together?

This publishing integration allows you to create, edit, approve and schedule the publishing of CMS web content from a task in the CMP. Once created or edited through the integration, content automatically receives a tracking pixel and is saved to the CMP Library for future use.

The integration uses an editor from the CMS embedded directly into the CMP – allowing content to be created and edited directly in the CMS’s editor and retain the maximum compatibility with the CMS Content Types and allowing the CMS to be the primary location where the CMS content is stored.

Key Capabilities

By integrating the publishing experience, you will gain the ability to seamlessly create, edit, approve, and schedule the publishing of CMS web content in the CMP without the need for manual content linking or switching between products.

Create pages: Build pages in any language, type, or location.
Edit existing pages: Modify existing pages or their translations.
Embedded editor: CMS editor integrated within the CMP.
Deep linking: Access CMS editor anytime from CMP.
Preview content: Real-time auto-updating content preview.
Schedule publishing: Set publication time for content.
Track performance: Monitor content performance through analytics.
Opti ID support: Limit users to their permissions from the CMS while working in the CMP. Check out the Get started with Opti ID module to learn how to setup and use Opti ID to access multiple Optimizely products from a single source.

Integration Preparation

Ask your developer to set up the integration. Before utilizing the integration, you must finish your CMS setup and installing and configuring the CMS + CMP publishing integration package.

If you need help with either of these tasks, please review the following documentation:

If you’ve already completed these steps, no further preparation is needed.
