Outline

Welcome

In this module, you will learn how to set up and manage returns, empowering customers with the ability to handle orders and returns on their own.

After completing this module, you should be able to:

  • Configure Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)
  • Create and manage return requests through RMA
  • Build in reason codes for optimal tracking

Why use Return Merchandise Authorization?

Customers want to be able to handle their orders and returns without picking up a phone. Additionally, you want to ensure that your company is tracking and managing returns in an efficient way that keeps all of your product data in the same place. RMA is a feature that provides your website users the option to request to return material or merchandise. This feature is configurable and may be turned on or off per site.

The Order Status must correctly map to an existing RMA-enabled order status. You can enable the RMA option for any order status; it does not have to be enabled for all order statuses. For example, you would often not want to enable RMA for the canceled order status, since you wouldn't want your customers to return an order they have already canceled.

How do I benefit from Return Merchandise Authorization?

Here's how these features benefit different roles:

  • Customer Service: RMA reduces the workload on customer service and enhances overall customer satisfaction by simplifying the return process and minimizing the need for manual intervention.
  • Researcher/Buyer:  Buyers can initiate and track the return process independently, ensuring that any issues with purchased products are resolved quickly and transparently.
