Dashboards
Outline
Welcome
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to build and manage dashboards in Optimizely Analytics. Dashboards help you bring together visualizations from multiple datasets to track performance, highlight trends, and communicate insights with your team. You’ll also explore the dashboard editing interface and layout controls to create tailored, insight-driven views.
After completing this module, you should be able to:
- Define what is a dashboard and its purpose
- Understand the structure of a dashboard using the key elements
- Create and apply different types of tiles based on use cases
- Build an entire new dashboard using different metrics and visualizations
What is a Dashboard?
In Optimizely Analytics, dashboards are customizable collections of visualizations built to help you monitor key metrics and explore trends. The dashboard supports customizable visuals, parameters, and layouts—and are interactive, enabling deeper analysis through analytic exploration.

Using dashboards, you can:
- Organize all your relevant explorations in one location
- Get a 360-degree view of all your critical data
- Run side-by-side data comparisons
- Run ad hoc analysis
- Present your data effectively
What are the Key Elements?
Here are the key elements that you use while building a dashboard:
Menu Bar - The top menu bar contains different buttons and options for creating a dashboard.

Supported Tiles - A tile is a component of a dashboard that either displays the results of an analytical computation (like a chart) or acts as a control (like a filter) that influences the results shown in the dashboard. You can add the following types of tiles to a dashboard:
- Visualization tile
- Filter tile
- Cohort Filter tile
- Parameter tile
- Experiment tile
- Text tile
