Project Items Gadget
Outline
In this module, you will learn about the Project Items Gadget in Optimizely CMS. This gadget allows editors to view and manage all content items associated with a specific project. It provides a centralized view of project-related content, helping teams keep track of work in progress, drafts, and published items across different languages.
After completing this module, you should be able to:
- Explain the purpose of the Project Items Gadget.
- View and manage all content associated with a specific project.
- Track content status (draft, published, ready to publish).
- Perform key actions such as editing, removing, or marking content as ready.
- Decide when to use Project Items as a standalone gadget or within other views.
Purpose of the Gadget
The Project Items Gadget provides a focused view of content linked to a project, making it easier to track and manage work. Instead of searching through navigation or assets, editors can quickly access only the items relevant to their project.
Key Features
- Project-Specific View: Displays all items tied to the selected project (e.g., a campaign like Spring/Summer 2024 Launch).
- Language Awareness: Shows the language versions of each item, based on your CMS language settings.
- Status Visibility: Clearly identifies whether an item is published, in draft, or ready for publishing.
Available Actions
From within the Project Items Gadget, editors can:
- Edit Content: Open items directly for editing.
- Remove from Project: Detach items that no longer belong to the project.
- Mark as Ready to Publish: Update draft content to signal it is ready for release.
- Use Item Options Menu: Access additional display or item management actions via the bottom menu.
- Sort and Refresh: Organize items or refresh the view to see the latest updates.
Flexibility of Use
The Project Items Gadget can be used in different ways:
- As a standalone gadget for a project-focused workflow.
- As part of the Navigation Gadget, where project items appear alongside regular navigation.
- Or you may rely solely on the Overview Feature, skipping the gadget if you prefer a broader view.
Best Practices
- Use the gadget when working on multi-content projects (e.g., product launches, seasonal campaigns).
- Regularly check the project items list to ensure all content is aligned and ready on time.
- Combine with language settings to ensure localized versions are complete before publishing.
