Why use Brands?
Brands functionality gives you an additional way to organize your products and highlight brands on your site. Enabling brands and product lines also provides a way to manage a brand's identity, for example by featuring or boosting specific brands on your website.
Allowing customers to shop by brands or product lines gives them another way to find products that they know and trust. Using search and filters, customers can get to products within a specific brand or product line easily, without having to sort through large product catalogs.
How do I benefit from Brands?
Here's how Brands functionality benefits different roles:
- Merchandiser: As a merchandiser, you can use shop by brands to manage and maintain brand identity as well as quickly map products to brands. You can also use search boost and burying functionality to highlight certain brands or product lines. In addition, create promotions by brand or product line.
- Researcher/Buyer: Shop by brands gives your customers another way to navigate to the products they know and trust. They can also search for and filter products by specific brands and product lines.

Product lines refer to a set of related products (SKUs) within a brand that are merchandised or sold together based on certain characteristics or attributes. For example, 'Protective Eyewear' is a product line within the 3M brand.

Set brand category images
Brand category images are a set of images associated with a brand's categories and product lines. If your top-selling products change frequently due to seasonality or demand shifts, dynamic image generation ensures your brand pages stay updated without manual effort.
When you configure brands to have these images dynamically generated, a recurring job runs to pull the images for the top selling products in the brand category or product line. However, if you would prefer to manually populate the brand category image, you can choose that option when configuring brands.
Visit the link below to see how to work with brand category images in Optimizely Configured Commerce. Walkthroughs for manually setting up brand category images and product line images will follow one after the other.
1. Set Brand Category Images - Override dynamic brand category images

Create promotions
Besides all these functionalities, you can create promotions and page variants in the CMS based on brands and product lines. You can also create restriction groups based on brands and product lines.
