How do I benefit from Promotions?

Here's how Promotions feature benefits different roles:

  • Marketer:  As a member of the marketing team for your website, it's important to have ways to drive users to your website and to help manage their behavior when on your website. Promotions are widely customizable ways to get your user to complete orders. You can offer free shipping over a certain amount to get users to complete a large order at one time, or you could offer discount on a particular brand's products, based on rewards you could receive from a certain brand.
  • Researcher/Buyer:  Promotions are a great way for your customers to save money or time. Promotions can be customized to specific customers: for example, if you know Jones packaging that shows only for Jones buyers, discounting cutters by 25%, This is only one of many ways you have provide top-tier service to your customers and keep them coming back to your site.

Promotions

Optimizely Configured Commerce offers a powerful promotions engine designed to create and manage complex promotional incentives that enhance customer engagement and drive sales. These promotions can be automatically applied to customer orders or triggered by promotional codes during checkout. By strategically leveraging promotions, businesses can attract new customers while encouraging repeat purchases from existing ones. This below article explores how promotions are structured, the different rule types that determine eligibility, and the various ways promotions can be applied at the product, order, and shipping levels.

Promotion rule type description

Promotion Rules define a set of criteria that a customer must meet (by adding products to their cart and completing their order) to be eligible to receive the promotional incentive. There are essentially two steps within the Optimizely Configured Commerce Promotion workflow:

  1. Rule Types- provide the If portion of the If/Then statement logic
  2. Result Types- provide the Then portion of the logic.

To understand more about the Promotion logic and the steps for creating a successful Promotion, refer to the additional documentation on Promotions.

Optimizely Configured Commerce provides a range of Promotion Results to help businesses create targeted discounts and special offers. These promotions can be applied to products, categories, vendors, shipping, or entire orders, allowing for flexible pricing strategies.

To explore further, read this Promotion Result Type Descriptions article.

These rules do not factor in products in a customer's order history.
