What is it?/Why use it?

Pages in Optimizely Configured Commerce are essential building blocks for organizing and displaying content across your eCommerce site. Each page is designed to serve a specific purpose such as showcasing products, capturing contact information, or managing user accounts and helps guide customers through their buying journey. Configured Commerce comes with a set of standard web pages like the Home Page, Product List Page, Cart Page, and Account Settings Page. These pages are named based on their function and can be customized using widgets that allow you to add text, images, lists, or other content. You’re not limited to the built-in pages, you can also create new pages such as landing pages, FAQs, or promotional content. These pages appear in the Page Tree, giving you the flexibility to control where they live in your site’s navigation structure.

You can add additional static web pages for more content. Although some of these items (such as the header and footer) are not technically a web page, Configured Commerce allows you to edit them as separate units of the website.

The example below shows the Cart page between the header and footer:

Whether you're building a product showcase or setting up a support page, Spire CMS in Configured Commerce gives you the flexibility and control to build and manage your site content in a way that aligns with your business goals and enhances your customer experience.

Add a page

In Spire CMS, you have the flexibility to create new pages. During page creation, you determine how the page appears in the navigation.

You can add content pages by choosing a page type for your content: NewsListPage and Page.

  • NewsListPage – News pages that automatically appear with Read More links on the page.
  • Page – A generic page where you can create content landing pages.

Edit a page

The Spire Content Management System (CMS) comes with pages that contain predefined content, like populated widgets. Generally, the implementer creates these pages during implementation, but you can modify them at any time. Common predefined content pages include About Us, Order Upload and Contact Us.

Copy a page

You can create a page from scratch or copy from a previously created page to reuse the same content or design.

Delete a page

You can delete a page if needed. You may also remove default pages using an extension or customization.

Manage Page Variants

Spire CMS allows you to create page variants to display personalized or contextual content based on user personas or specific rules. Variants help deliver a tailored user experience across your website without replacing your default content. Page variants are alternate versions of a webpage that display under certain conditions you define. You can create variants for any CMS page, including headers and footers. Once the first variant is created, the original page becomes the default version (marked with a blue icon), while all variants appear beneath it in the page tree (marked with an orange icon).
