Create a Visual Builder Experience
Outline
We have discussed the key concepts of CMS SaaS Visual Builder in the User Interface and Core Concepts path. In this module you’ll learn how to create and manage experiences using the visual builder. You’ll be guided through the process of designing, modifying, and reusing experiences in an intuitive editing interface without writing any code.
After completing this module, you should be able to:
- Create and modify experience using the Visual Builder from both scratch and blueprints
- Filter and preview content within the CMS SaaS editing interface
- Reuse experiences by saving them as blueprints
Create an Experience in Visual Builder from scratch
In the context of Optimizely CMS SaaS, an experience is a complete piece of content or layout that defines how a page or section appears and behaves for users. Although an experience looks like a regular page to visitors, it’s much more than just a page from the editor’s perspective in terms of flexibility and composability that allows you to customize the presentation layout by combining elements like text, images, buttons, videos, media carousels, and more to deliver a meaningful interaction or message on an application.
The link below will walk you through the steps to create an experience from scratch, modify the content layout, and add or edit content using the Visual Builder.
Note: Developer configuration is necessary to create Visual Builder content from scratch. For detailed instructions, see Configure Visual Builder.

Save as Blueprint
Optimizely CMS SaaS allows you to save both experiences and sections as blueprints for ease of reuse. Blueprints are content layouts that you can save as templates and reuse whenever you want, instead of starting from scratch every time. This makes content creation more efficient and less time-consuming.
You’ve already learned how to create an experience and the sections within it from scratch. Below we’ll walk you through the steps to save an experience and a section as blueprints in Visual Builder.
