Recently Changed Gadget
Outline
In this module, you will learn about the Recently Changed Gadget in Optimizely CMS. This gadget helps you keep track of content updates by displaying items that have been recently modified. Unlike the Recent Gadget, which tracks the pages or blocks you’ve viewed, the Recently Changed Gadget focuses on actual edits and updates made to content items.
After completing this module, you should be able to:
- Explain the purpose of the Recently Changed Gadget.
- Identify the differences between the Recent and Recently Changed gadgets.
- Use the gadget to review or continue working on recently updated content items.
Purpose of the Gadget
The Recently Changed Gadget is designed to provide visibility into the most recent edits made within the CMS. This includes changes such as moving items into draft, adding new versions in different languages, or modifying content like pages, blocks, images, and files.
Key Features
- Tracks Edits: Shows the most recent 20 content items that have been changed.
- Quick Access: Allows you to click directly into updated items for further editing or review.
- Supports Multiple Content Types: Includes changes made to pages, blocks, images, and files.
Example Use Cases
- If you’ve just edited the homepage and saved it as a draft, the gadget lists it immediately for quick return access.
- When working on multilingual content, such as adding a French variation to a CV upload page, you can easily revisit the changes via the gadget.
- For collaborative teams, it provides a quick overview of what content has been worked on most recently, making it easier to follow ongoing updates.
Best Practices
- Use this gadget to double-check recent changes before publishing, especially in multilingual or multi-editor environments.
- Combine it with the Version History feature to roll back or compare edits if needed.
- Remember: This gadget is limited to the 20 most recently changed items, so for older changes, use the full content tree or project history.
