Optimizely Technical Roundtable – EP 1 | Part 1: Post-Implementation Technical Challenges
Outline
In this first episode of the OMVP Technical Roundtable, members of the Optimizely technical community come together to discuss a topic that every implementation eventually faces: what really happens after go-live.
While many projects are considered “successful” at launch, the most complex engineering challenges often appear once real users, real traffic, and growing content demands begin to put pressure on the system. This roundtable focuses on the technical realities teams encounter as platforms mature.
In Part 1, the panel explores the early stages of post-implementation life, including:
The gap between a successful launch and long-term platform stability
Performance and scaling challenges that only appear under real production load
How growing content volume and integrations introduce architectural strain
Why environments behave differently across development, staging, and production
The importance of anticipating operational complexity early in the project lifecycle
This session brings together practical perspectives from experienced Optimizely technical leaders who have worked through these challenges across multiple implementations and organizations.

This conversation is part of a new OMVP-led Technical Roundtable series, designed to surface real engineering lessons from the field and share them with the wider Optimizely developer community.
Because of the depth of discussion, the episode has been split into two parts.
