What is a Column Actor Dataset?

In Analytics, an actor refers to any entity relevant to your business analysis—such as a user, organization, membership, or item. Typically, an actor dataset maps to a dimension table in the data warehouse. However, there are cases where no such dimension table exists. Instead, the only reference to the actor is through an identifier column found in an event table—for example: Events.customer_id

In such cases, you can create a column actor dataset. This type of dataset doesn't directly map to a warehouse table. Instead, it is defined purely based on its relationship to identifiers found in other datasets. Despite this, column actors function just like regular actor datasets and can be used in the same ways across Analytics.
