These tools allow you to efficiently manage page content, update blocks, and maintain consistency across your website without navigating away from the page.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Understand how On-page Editing View works and identify editable areas

  • Edit content directly on the page, including images, text, and content areas

  • Access and modify basic info properties within On-page Editing

  • Use the Quick Edit feature for inline updates to blocks and content areas

On-page Editing View

When you access the Edit View in Optimizely CMS, you are taken to the On-page Editing View. From here, you can start editing the page directly. Editable areas are highlighted and depend on how the page type has been defined by your implementation. Each editable area is configured with a specific property type, which determines the kind of content you can edit.

For example:

  • An image property allows adding or changing images

  • A text property lets you update textual descriptions

  • A content area may hold blocks such as teasers, forms, or other components

This means that the options you see when clicking on an area will vary depending on its property type.

Quick Edit

The Quick Edit feature lets you make inline edits to individual blocks or content areas without navigating away from the current page. This feature streamlines the editing process by allowing quick updates directly within context.

To use Quick Edit, select the block you want to modify, open the Display menu, and choose Quick Edit. You can then make changes inline and click Publish Changes to apply them immediately. The updates appear instantly on the page.

The fields available in Quick Edit depend on the content type and properties defined for that block. For example, a form block may show properties like Title, Description, and Confirmation Message, while another block may display different fields.

Quick Edit

If a block is used in multiple locations, Quick Edit will show a notification (a blue ribbon) indicating that your changes will affect multiple pages. This ensures you are aware of cross-page impacts before publishing.
