Insert links into content
Outline
In this module, you will learn how to insert and manage links within your content using the TinyMCE rich-text editor in Optimizely CMS. Adding links helps guide users to related pages, external resources, media, or even specific sections within a page, improving navigation and user experience.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
Add hyperlinks to internal pages, external websites, and media files
Create email links that open the user’s mail client
Insert anchor tags and bookmarks for navigating within long pages
Configure link settings, including opening links in a new window
Adding Links in Content
Using the link tool in the TinyMCE editor, you can easily add different types of links to your content:
Internal page links: Reference another page within your CMS for quick navigation.
External hyperlinks: Add links to other websites. Use this carefully so users aren’t directed away from your site unless necessary.
Email links: Insert links that open an email client with the recipient’s address pre-filled.
Media links: Link to downloadable media or assets stored in your library.
You can also configure each link with a title and choose whether it opens in a new window or the same tab, depending on your site’s user experience strategy.
Using Anchors and Bookmarks
Anchors and bookmarks are useful for long-form content, such as FAQs or detailed guides.
You can:
Insert anchors at specific sections of the page
Create bookmarks or links at the top that jump directly to those anchored sections
This makes it easier for users to navigate long pages without scrolling manually.
