Categories Gadget

In this module, you will learn about the Categories Gadget in Optimizely CMS. Categories are a powerful way to organize and classify content, making it easier to manage and retrieve information across your website. With the Categories Gadget, editors can quickly access, review, and create categories directly within the interface, streamlining content organization.

After completing this module, you should be able to:

Accessing Categories

Once added to your interface via the Settings menu → Add gadget, the Categories Gadget displays all the categories set up in the Category Manager. This includes parent categories and their nested child categories, helping you see the full hierarchy at a glance.

Reviewing Categories

By clicking on a category, you can review details about it and even open it in the All Properties editing view to see configurations such as content styles, scripts, or metadata settings.

Navigating the Hierarchy

The gadget makes it easy to switch between different categories, whether you’re reviewing high-level parent categories (e.g., Fashion) or drilling down into specific child categories (e.g., Casual).

Creating Categories

In addition to reviewing existing ones, you can also add new categories directly through the gadget, making it a flexible tool for maintaining your site’s content taxonomy.
